(Yicai Global) April 3 -- The Chinese mainland reported 31 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) yesterday, of which 29 were imported and two new domestic cases were reported in Liaoning and Guangdong provinces respectively, the National Health Commission said today.

By the end of yesterday, 870 imported cases had been reported, according to the commission. Among them, 710 are being treated at hospitals, including 19 in critical condition, and 160 have been discharged upon recovery.

Also yesterday, four deaths, all in Hubei province, and 12 new suspected cases, all imported ones, were reported on the mainland, the commission said. 

Meanwhile, the mainland reported 60 new asymptomatic Covid-19 cases yesterday, while seven were confirmed of being infected with the virus and 101 were discharged from medical observation, according to the commission.

The commission said that 1,027 asymptomatic-infected patients were still under medical observation, including 221 from overseas.

The commission said 163 people were discharged from hospital after recovery yesterday, while the number of severe cases decreased by 50 to 379.

The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 81,620 by the end of yesterday, including 1,727 patients who were still being treated, 76,571 patients who had been discharged after recovery, and 3,322 people who died of the disease.

The commission said that 135 people were still suspected of being infected with the virus.

The commission added that 19,533 close contacts were still under medical observation and 1,990 people were discharged from medical observation yesterday.

By the end of yesterday, 802 confirmed cases had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (including four deaths), 41 in the Macau Special Administrative Region and 339 in Taiwan (including five deaths).

A total of 154 patients in Hong Kong, 10 in Macau and 50 in Taiwan have been discharged from hospital after recovery.
