(Yicai Global) April 9 -- The Chinese mainland reported 63 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19), of which 61 were imported from overseas and two domestic cases were reported in Guangdong province, the National Health Commission said today.

By the end of yesterday, 1,103 imported cases had been reported, according to the commission. Among them, 729 are being treated at hospitals, including 31 in critical condition, and 374 had been discharged upon recovery.

Also yesterday, two deaths in Hubei province, and 17 new suspected cases, including 16 imported ones and one in Heilongjiang province, were reported on the mainland, the commission said.

Meanwhile, the mainland reported 56 new asymptomatic Covid-19 cases yesterday and 15 were confirmed of being infected with the virus, according to the commission.

The commission said that 1,104 asymptomatic-infected patients were still under medical observation as of yesterday, including 364 from overseas.

The commission said 91 people were discharged from hospital after recovery yesterday, while the number of severe cases decreased by 13 to 176.

The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 81,865 by the end of yesterday, including 1,160 patients who were still being treated, 77,370 patients who had been discharged after recovery, and 3,335 people who died of the disease.

The commission said that 73 people were still suspected of being infected with the virus.

The commission added that 12,510 close contacts were still under medical observation and 1,848 people were discharged from medical observation yesterday.

By the end of yesterday, 960 confirmed cases had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (including four deaths), 45 in the Macau Special Administrative Region and 379 in Taiwan (including five deaths).

A total of 264 patients in Hong Kong, 10 in Macau and 67 in Taiwan have been discharged from hospital after recovery.
