(Yicai Global) Nov. 22 -- Aliyun, a cloud computing platform under internet giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA], will headquarter its industrial internet cloud platform in southern China's Guangdong province, and reduce the price of its Content Distribution Network (CDN) in order to serve more enterprises, technology media Tech Sina reported yesterday.

The firm will set up an R&D center in the province and recruit one thousand cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) engineers, said Aliyun president Hu Xiaoming.

Aliyun will reproduce the ET industrial brain according to demands and scenarios specified by companies and aims to serve more than 100,000 manufacturers nationwide while reducing the CDN price by between 25 and 63 percent. The new CDN prices take effect from today. 

Industrial clusters located in Guangdong cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, and Dongguan will become pilot projects in the future. The firm will partner with leading providers of industrial Internet system solutions in the province and also collaborate with governments to provide customized digital transformation services for manufacturers, said Hu.

The added value of Guangdong's manufacturing and production service industry is up to 65 percent and in 2016, the province achieved gross turnover through Alibaba platform worth USD132.6 billion (CNY875.6 billion).
