(Yicai Global) Feb. 26 -- A prominent Beijing hospital has just finished building its fifth-generation wireless communications network, making it the first in the Chinese capital to be fully ready to use the technology.
China Japan Friendship Hospital built the network with help from Chinese telecoms manufacturer Huawei Technology and carrier Beijing Mobile, the local arm of China's biggest mobile service provider China Mobile, state-backed Beijing Daily reported.
The base station provides the hospital with a range of 5G digital services, including video-based doctor visits in wards, patient care, data collection and group consultations. The hospital plans to test the possibility of real time consultations using 5G for patients who are unable to attend in person.
The network will also grant web access to visitors who have 5G devices.
