Beijing Startup Linkface Develops Facial Recognition for Pigs to Help Farmers With Insurance Issues Beijing Startup Linkface Develops Facial Recognition for Pigs to Help Farmers With Insurance Issues

(Yicai Global) Sept. 25 -- Linkface Corp., a subsidiary of Beijing-based peer-to-peer lending platform Jiedaibao, run by Renrenxing Technology Co., is looking to develop a facial recognition solution for pigs in a bid to help farmers when taking out insurance on their herds, online media outlet Admin5 reported.

When insurance companies provide policies for pig breeders, some farmers fraudulently claim payouts as the identity of particular pigs can be difficult to determine. Pig farmers may also encounter issues when submitting legitimate insurance claims as it is hard to prove which animals have been previously insured.

The technology will able to pinpoint a pig's identity, potentially boosting the insurance market in the pig-rearing sector.
