(Yicai Global) March 6 -- Avatr Technology, the high-end smart electric vehicle brand under Chinese carmaker Changan Automobile, said it plans to sell its EVs in at least 20 Huawei Technologies stores by the first half of the year.
Avatr landed in two Huawei stores in Beijing and Shenzhen last December as part of a pilot cooperation channel. But the cars were only on display.
Avatr and Huawei joined hands last June to co-develop four Avatr-branded EV models, which will be based on CHN, a smart platform co-developed by Changan, Huawei, and Chinese battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology, by 2025.
More than 1,000 Huawei employees have been in Chongqing to work with Avatr engineers to develop the EV models, Avatr’s Chairman Tan Benhong told Yicai Global.
Avatr began delivering its first model, the Avatr 11, last October and reached about 4,000 deliveries by March 2. Priced at about CNY350,000 (USD50,650), the Avatr 11 is equipped with Huawei’s smart driving, smart cockpit, intelligent network, smart electrification, and full-track smart vehicle solutions, as well as its smart vehicle cloud services.
The electric carmaker plans to release a single-motor version of the Avatr 11 and the E12, a new mid-to-long-range sedan, this year.
Avatr appointed a new senior executive vice president last month to help the firm hit its target for 100,000 orders this year.
Changan Auto earlier said that Avatr has an independent listing plan. After closing a Series A fundraiser, it reached a financing scale of nearly CNY5 billion (USD723 million) and a post-investment valuation of nearly CNY10 billion (USD1.5 billion).
