(Yicai Global) Oct. 11 -- Chengdu municipal government, in China's southwestern Sichuan province, has issued a Big Data industry plan to push the value of the sector in the city to CNY300 billion (USD45.45 billion) by 2025.

The city will develop unique industry applications for Big Data, focusing on promoting use in games and entertainment, online audio and video, healthcare, aerospace and vehicle manufacturing, Chengdu Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the city's top economic planner, said online today.

According to the plan, Chengdu will focus on developing Big Data user behavior analysis for gaming applications, offer guidance for healthcare firms, and promote the use of Big Data in research and development for equipment, autonomous driving and vehicle sharing technology, interconnected systems for drivers and cars and other smart automotive products.

The Big Data industry was worth about CNY18 billion (USD2.72 billion) in Chengdu last year. Its latest plan hopes to increase this to CNY40 billion next year, at an average annual growth rate of 49 percent. It wants to ramp the figure up to CNY80 billion by 2020, an average growth rate of 41 percent, and to CNY300 billion by 2025, marking an average growth rate of 30 percent.

If all goes to plan, the city's Big Data sector will pull in CNY1 trillion (USD151.5 billion) in annual revenue from software and information services by 2025.
