(Yicai Global) Nov. 2 -- China Ocean Shipping, also known as Cosco Shipping, is making strides to bring the world closer to China for the first China International Import Expo, with the highlight of a 20-meter long portal milling machine called Taurus.
Cosco Shipping is the only logistics service recommended by the CIIE, and has worked with exhibitors including Germany, Turkey, and Denmark, regarding the trade fair, Vice President Wang Songwen said to Yicai Global. Other related clients include firms from Norway, Italy, Belgium, Egypt, and Switzerland.
The CIIE will be held at the National Convention & Exhibition Center in Shanghai from Nov. 5 to 10, and the city is expecting participants from 130 countries and more than 2,800 firms.
The largest item that Cosco Shipping has brought to China for the expo is portal and gantry milling machine Taurus, made by German industrial manufacturer Waldrich Coburg. Taurus was packaged into 12 containers and sent from Hamburg, Germany on Oct. 8 to arrive at the Shanghai Yangshan Port the next day. It took 25 minutes to inspect the ship and only five minutes for fast lane customs clearance.
As the trade fair as approaching, air transport is becoming necessary, said Zheng Yingguo, general manager of the supply chain development department of Cosco Europe.
Cosco Germany provided air transportation services to four exhibitors including the Sino-German Center for Sustainable Development. The goods involved precision machinery and equipment, sensors, food and beverages, and promotional materials.
Cosco France also helped US conglomerate DuPont to bring high-value products from Geneva to Shanghai. The Shanghai-headquartered logistics firm also assisted Ukrainian exhibitors to transport their products, including aircraft manufacturer Antonov State's promotional material, folk art ceramics, as well as candies, biscuits and cakes from the Kharkov Biscuit Factory.
