(Yicai Global) June 18 -- China's customs has halted Canadian Frigo Royal's import application after discovering ractopamine, a feed additive that is illegal in China, in the latter's pork exports.
The General Administration of Customs stopped the firm's customs clearing process in Nanjing and ordered local bureaus to strengthen inspections regarding Canadian pork, the GACC reported today. The agency has suspended all veterinary health certificates issued by the specific officer who gave the green light to the products.
Ractopamine promotes leanness in livestock and it is legal in Canada and the US.
