China's Mainland Stock Markets Surge at Half Year’s End China's Mainland Stock Markets Surge at Half Year’s End

(Yicai Global) June 30 -- China's mainland stock markets remained high this afternoon and led to a gain in the second quarter at the end of a turbulent first half.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 0.78 percent higher at 2,984.67. The Shenzhen Component Index stood at 11,992.35, up 2.04 percent, and the ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, climbed 2.77 percent to 2,438.20.

All sectors closed on an up note, led by tech firms and security brokers. Large caps, including banks and oil firms, had the most sluggish rises.

The Shanghai Composite Index rebounded 8.52 percent from the onslaught of Covid-19 in the second quarter; The Shenzhen Component Index jumped 20.38 percent during the same period and the ChiNext Price Index vaulted 30.25 percent.
