(Yicai Global) May 18 -- China's mobile game sales grew slower last month than in the first quarter as work and school restarted in the country, but they still logged a 24.4 percent yearly rise to CNY16 billion (USD2.25 billion) in a record high for the month, the latest data from Beijing-based research institute CNG show.

Arena of Valor, Tencent Holdings’ popular multiplayer online battle arena, surpassed Game for Peace, another Tencent offering, to rank first in cash flow in the period, helped by newly-released characters and dresses.

Mobile game sales surged over 40 percent to a total of CNY50 billion in the first quarter on surging demand for digital entertainment fueled by Covid-19 cabin fever, according to an earlier CNG report.
