China's Stock Market Closed Higher Despite Afternoon Fall

(Yicai Global) March 12 -- China's mainland stock market rounded off a second straight day of rises with CNY1 trillion (USD148 billion) turned over despite a slight dive in the afternoon.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed up 1.1 percent at 3,060.31 units after flipping CNY487.1 billion (USD72.7 billion) while the Shenzhen Component Index climbed 1.41 percent to 9,841.24 with CNY650 billion swapped.

The ChiNext index soared 2.64 percent to 1,773.43 with a turnover of CNY212.6 billion. The rise of the ChiNext Price Index narrowed to 0.7 percent after lunch having been near to 3.5 percent higher before.

Internet firms and the agriculture sector lead the gains, increasing 6.05% and 5.1%, respectively.
