(Yicai Global) May 7 -- Chinese stock markets closed slightly higher in the morning as seed shares gained the most ground.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,878.43, up 0.01 percent, while the Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.2 percent to 10,904.78 in the morning. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, climbed 0.09 percent to 2,122.22.

Seed stocks shot up over 4 percent.
