(Yicai Global) March 9 -- There are 102 self-made women billionaires with net worth of USD1 billion in the world and 64 come from China, accounting for 63 percent, revealed Hurun 2018 Global Self-Made Women Billionaires List released yesterday by Hurun Report to mark International Women's Day. China swept the top four spots.
Zhou Qunfei, 48, chairwoman of Lens Technology Co., became the most successful woman entrepreneur with net worth of CNY61.5 billion (USD9.7 billion), ranking top with a net worth increase of 45 percent from a year ago, followed by Wu Yajun, 54, chairwoman of Longfor Properties Co., with net worth of USD9.3 billion, up 83 percent year-on-year. Chen Lihua, 77, chairwoman of Fuwah International Group, slipped to third place this year from the top spot last year, with an estimated net worth of USD8.1 billion, up 1 percent from 2017.
15 billionaires come from Beijing, maintaining its status as the "capital of the world's self-made women billionaires," while Shenzhen overtook Shanghai to rank second with seven female billionaires. Shanghai came in third with six self-made women billionaires.
About 30 percent of the most successful male entrepreneurs are Chinese, while over 60 percent of the most successful female entrepreneurs come from China, indicating that Chinese female entrepreneurs are twice as successful as male entrepreneurs, noted Hu Run, also known as Rupert Hoogewerf, chairman and chief researcher of Hurun Report.
Some 20 billionaires on the list made their wealth in the manufacturing industry, which surpassed the technology field to become the main source of money for the world's self-made women billionaires. It was followed by the real estate sector with 16 billionaires and technology and retail 11.
