(Yicai Global) Sept. 5 -- Electronics maker Zowee Technology, which counts some of China's leading mobile hardware firms such as Huawei Technologies and ZTE as its clients, will construct a research and production center in central China's city of Wuhan to widen its range of products.

Zowee signed a framework cooperation agreement with the management committee of the Wuhan Donghu New Technology Development Zone to set up the new base with an investment of CNY5 billion (USD731 million), the Shenzhen-based firm said in a statement yesterday.

The company will establish a separate unit to handle the investment and construction of the plant which will make robots, smartphones, network equipment, intelligent hardware, and automation tools.

Founded in 2004, Zowee is a public company specializing in the development and manufacturing of products involving communication, computer and consumer electronics. Some of the customers for its current two plants in Shenzhen and Tianjin include computer retailers such as AsusTek Computer and Lenovo Group.
