China's Dajin Heavy Rises After Landing Order for Two Next-Gen Green Vessels Worth USD156 Million(Yicai) May 25 -- Shares of Dajin Heavy Industry, a major Chinese supplier of offshore wind turbine foundations, jumped after the company said it has secured an order for two next-generation green, intelligent multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels worth USD156 million.
Dajin Heavy [SHE: 002487] rose 4.7 percent to CNY78.45 (USD11.55) a share as of 2.45 p.m. in Shenzhen today.
Dajin Heavy's subsidiary Tangshan Dajin Offshore Marine Engineering will build the two ships, each with 25,000 deadweight tonnage, for a unit of well-known Dutch shipowner Jumbo, the Fuxin-based parent firm announced yesterday. Deliveries are scheduled for 2028 and 2029.
The ships have various uses, including transportation of heavy gear for offshore wind power projects, deep-sea engineering construction, and international transportation of marine oil and gas modules and large industrial equipment, Dajin Heavy pointed out.
The deal means that another of Dajin Heavy's mainstream core ship types will be used in the high-end offshore engineering vessel sector, following its previous work with deck transport vessels and non-powered semi-submersible barges. It also further enhances its design, construction, and delivery capabilities in the offshore vessel segment, solidifying the foundation of its shipbuilding business.
The new order marks a significant recognition of Dajin Heavy's capabilities in high-end offshore vessel research and design, smart manufacturing, and quality control by clients in Europe and around the world. It further enhances the firm's industry position and brand influence in the global deep-sea offshore equipment and shipbuilding sector.
In addition, it will likely have a positive impact on Dajin Heavy's operational performance in the coming years, according to the company.
Established in 2003, Dajin Heavy was long focused on manufacturing offshore wind power equipment, but started building ships after its base in Panjin, a coastal city in China's Liaoning province, was completed and began operating in 2023.
Jumbo is a highly influential provider of heavy marine transportation and offshore engineering services, with its presence in the global offshore market stretching several decades.
