(Yicai) June 11 -- Sinoma Science & Technology, a Chinese manufacturer of special fiber composite materials, said it will invest USD25.2 million to build a wind turbine blade factory in Uzbekistan to meet local customers' wind power development needs faster.
Sinoma unit Sinoma Science & Technology Wind Power Blade will fund, construct, and operate the plant, which will be located in Jizzakh and have an annual output of 110 units of blades with lengths between 90 to 120 meters, the Beijing-based parent company announced late yesterday. Construction is expected to take seven months, it added.
The project will adopt an asset-light model for investment and operation, with the unit leasing local factory building and using the molds provided by customers to make products, Sinoma pointed out.
In addition, Sinoma will provide local clients with technical assistance, training, and product maintenance services for wind turbine blades through the new production base, it said.
Sinoma makes glass fiber and composite materials with wind turbine suppliers as its downstream customer. The company has 13 wind turbine blade factories in China and one in Brazil.
Sinoma's revenue from wind turbine blades topped CNY8.6 billion (USD1.2 billion) last year, accounting for 33 percent of its total, according to its annual financial report. Overseas income made up 10 percent of the total.
Shares of Sinoma [SHE: 002080] closed unchanged at CNY16.59 (USD2.31) each today, after surging as much as 2.1 percent earlier in the day.
