(Yicai) May 27 -- Chinese printed circuit board maker Victory Giant Technology plans to invest USD260 million to build a factory in Vietnam and follow its domestic peers in adapting to the new global trade landscape by setting up a production base in Southeast Asia.

Victory Giant will set up a project firm in Bac Ninh province, which will be responsible for the investment, construction, and operation of the new plant, the Huizhou-based firm said late on May 24. The factory will produce various types of high-precision PCB products, it added.

Following approval from relevant Chinese regulators, Victory Giant will build the Vietnam plant in phases based on market demand and business progress, according to the company.

Investing in and constructing a production base in Vietnam will enable Victory Giant to respond more flexibly to macroeconomic fluctuations and adjustments in industry policies, it said. It will also mitigate potential adverse impacts from changes in the international trade landscape, allowing the company to better serve its major customers, it added.

Victory Giant's PCB business revenue was CNY7.5 billion (USD1 billion) last year, accounting for 94 percent of its total operating income, according to its 2023 financial report. Export revenue made up 61 percent of its total.

Victory Giant acquired Singaporean PCB supplier MFS Technology and its factories in Malaysia and China at the end of last November.

Shares of Victory Giant [SHE: 300476] fell 1 percent to CNY27.33 (USD3.77) apiece as of lunch break in Shenzhen today, after earlier dropping by as much as 2.2 percent.
