(Yicai Global) Jan. 23 -- After YouTube removed many videos which portrayed violence, horror and pornography in classic cartoon images, Chinese internet users also found similar videos on Chinese websites. Chinese officials said they have already begun to monitor and investigate such videos and severely sanction those who make and broadcast them.

YouTube deleted from its YouTube Kids channel 150,000 videos which displayed harmful content via cartoon images, it announced in November, as cnet.com reported. Chinese web users also found similar videos on several streaming sites. An account styled 'Broadcaster of Global Videos' on Sohu Video posted many videos with over 20 million views, in which, e.g.  a teddy bear is duct-taped to a toilet and another shows a Minion having a tooth extracted with pliers. The account was deleted after media outed it.

Several Chinese video websites have conducted self-investigations, removed harmful videos and deleted several accounts. China's illegal publication and pornography watchdog announced that, after investigation, it will severely punish companies in dereliction of their duties who allow harmful videos and information to spread.
