Chinese Banks in Middle East Haven’t Yet Posted Updates About Impact of Regional Conflict Chinese Banks in Middle East Haven’t Yet Posted Updates About Impact of Regional Conflict

(Yicai) March 12 -- The Chinese lenders with established branches in the Middle East have not yet disclosed any information regarding the impact of the ongoing conflict in the region on their operations.

After the United States and Israel hit banking facilities in Iran on March 10, the Iranian military yesterday vowed that it will take retaliatory actions against US and Israeli economic centers in the region, warning the public to stay away from potential targets, such as banks.

Over the past 20 years, large Chinese state-owned banks, including Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, Bank of Communications, China Construction Bank, and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, have established branches in the Middle East, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai as the main locations.

The lenders’ Middle Eastern branches cover businesses including deposits, loan issuance, trade finance, and settlement services.
