(Yicai Global) Jan. 24 -- The sales volume of Chinese-branded new vehicles was 31,900, a 4-percent annual increase. Chongqing Lifan Auto Co. ranks first in the country, announced Russian auto industry analyst Autostat, as Russia's Sputnik news service reported today.

Lifan Auto clinched the gold with 53 percent of Chinese brands' total sales in Russia in last year with 17,000 units moving for a drop of 3 percent on the previous year.

Chery Automobile Co. claimed the silver with 5,905, an annual rise of 24 percentage points and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group [HK:0175] bore away the bronze, with sales of 2,234, a 50-percent annual drop.

Chinese brands made up 2 percent of total sales in Russia all last year, Autostat noted.
