(Yicai Global) Oct. 3 -- Chinese engineering contractor Weihai International Economic Technical Cooperative Co. (WIETC) has won a USD20 million (CNY133 million) contract for the construction of part of a bus-based rapid transit system in Bangladesh capital of Dhaka through the local Bengal government, Xinhua reported yesterday.

Construction will take 18 months and the project will greatly improve accessibility for nearby residents and ease traffic congestion. The Asian Development Bank is providing financing for the project.

WIETC will be responsible for the expansion, repair and upgrading of access roads close to Dhaka International Airport.
