(Yicai Global) June 27 -- Chinese health authority said today that it received reports of 21 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, of which 17 were domestically transmitted and four were imported.

All the domestically transmitted cases were reported in Beijing, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

Of the imported cases, two were reported in Guangdong province, one in Shanghai and one in Gansu province, according to the commission.

No deaths were reported yesterday on the mainland, while a new suspected imported case was reported in Shanghai.

As of yesterday, the mainland had reported a total of 1,899 imported cases. Of the cases, 1,814 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery and 85 were being treated, the commission said.

The commission said five people were discharged from hospitals after recovery yesterday while the number of severe cases remained eight.

The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 83,483 by yesterday, including 405 patients who were still being treated, 78,444 people who had been discharged after recovery, and 4,634 people who died of the disease.

The commission said eight people, including one from abroad, were still suspected of being infected with the virus.

It added that 7,876 close contacts were still under medical observation while 791 people were discharged from medical observation yesterday.

Also yesterday, 12 new asymptomatic cases, including eight from abroad, was reported on the mainland. The commission said 106 suspected asymptomatic cases, including 64 from overseas, were still under medical observation.

By the end of yesterday, 1,196 confirmed cases had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (including seven deaths), 46 in the Macau Special Administrative Region and 447 in Taiwan (including seven deaths).

A total of 1,091 patients in Hong Kong, 45 in Macau and 435 in Taiwan have been discharged from hospital after recovery.
