(Yicai Global) April 24 -- China’s three benchmark stock indexes closed lower today, and the shares of previously popular sectors dropped in the afternoon, including gene testing and pharmaceuticals.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,808.53, down 1.06 percent, while the Shenzhen Component Index ended 1.33 percent lower at 10,423.46. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, lost 1.27 percent at 2,003.75.
