(Yicai Global) Oct. 27 -- The trading volume in the Shanghai market shrank slightly, but the benchmark stock indexes of China's mainland markets closed higher today nonetheless, with pharmaceutical stocks performing well.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed the day out 0.10 percent higher at 3,254.32, while its Nasdaq-like Star Market Board 50 Index climbed 2.19 percent higher to 1,385.75.

The Shenzhen Component Index was up 0.59 percent at 13,269.65, The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen climbed 1.26 percent to 2,650.76.

Changchun High and New Technology Industries Group [SHE:000661] rose to the 10 percent daily price limit to stop trading at CNY381.17 (USD56.98 ) as its profit increased over 80 percent in the third-quarter and its influenza vaccine sold well.
