Chinese Stocks Open to Walk Back Yesterday's Gains as Real Estate Shares Dive

(Yicai Global) July 31 -- China's mainland stock indexes edged down in the morning, erasing yesterday's climbs, while real estate stocks dipped more than others.

The Shanghai Composite Index declined rapidly from the first reading of 0.27 percent down to 0.45 percent below zero within 10 minutes after opening. The Shenzhen Component Index started the day 0.26 percent lower at 9,374.44. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, dropped 0.19 percent to 1,577.20 points. 

Property stocks fell 1.1 percent on average. Internet companies bucked the downward trend by rising 1.1 percent.
