DJI Says It Has Been Targeted by Online Trolls, Causing Media Markt to Suspend Sales of Its Drones DJI Says It Has Been Targeted by Online Trolls, Causing Media Markt to Suspend Sales of Its Drones

(Yicai Global) March 28 -- The social media accounts of DJI and its global partners, including Media Markt were subject to a coordinated attack by trolls last week, causing Germany’s largest electronics retailer to temporarily suspend the sales of its products on its online sales channels and brick-and-mortar shops for security reasons, the world’s favorite dronemaker said today on its website.

The cyber bullies accused DJI of being involved in the ongoing unrest in Russia and Ukraine, DJI said. These accusations are completely false, it said. DJI has repeatedly stated that all its products are designed for civilian use and do not meet military specifications, it added.

DJI is in talks with Ingolstadt-based Media Markt, with which it has partnered for many years, the Shenzhen-based company said.

DJI is a pioneer in the civilian drone sector and its technology is not only used by movie makers, but is applied in a wide range of fields including agriculture, security surveillance and environmental protection. The firm is in full compliance with international laws and regulations and has a dedicated inhouse team to ensure that its commercial activities are in accordance with the law, it added.

Founded in 2006, DJI employs 14,000 people worldwide. In addition to China, it has offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Rotterdam and Frankfurt, supporting sales in over 100 countries and regions around the world.
