Faraday Future Holds Bumpy Test Drive on Sidelines of CES 2018 Faraday Future Holds Bumpy Test Drive on Sidelines of CES 2018

(Yicai Global) Jan. 9 -- Faraday & Future Inc.'s FF91 prototype experienced technical problems during a small-scale test drive on the sidelines of the CES global technology event in Las Vegas that the US electric car startup organized, online media outlet The Paper reported today.

The 25-minute-long demonstration was interrupted as tire problems resulted in the car coming to a stop after turning a corner and a back-door glitch temporarily prevented attendees from getting in.

A Faraday Future representative attributed the tire issue, which led to the automobile becoming engulfed with the smell of burning rubber, to a burnout, saying, "it allows the car to showcase its extreme performance."

The firm did not allow participants to photograph the interior of the vehicle, which demonstrated quick acceleration of zero to 97 kilometers-per-hour in 2.39 seconds. The automobile features multiple cameras that act as rear and side view mirrors.

Faraday Future expects to commence small-scale deliveries of the FF91 by the end of this year, the company said, adding that its price will not be comparable to that of a Tesla despite possessing quality similar to that of a Bentley or Rolls-Royce.

The company previously suffered delays due to funding, though the representative stated that cash squeeze issues have eased. 75 percent of suppliers have resumed work with the firm, he added without commenting on the sources of funding.

Controversial Chinese businessman Jia Yueting, who recently defied a regulatory order to return to the country to handle matters regarding his troubled Leshi Internet Information & Technology Corp., founded the automaker.
