(Yicai Global) June 8 -- Faraday Future, the US electric car venture of embattled Chinese entrepreneur Jia Yueting, has selected a general contractor to build its manufacturing plant in Hanford, California, the US and obtained a construction permit, the company said, reiterating its plans to deliver the FF91, its first mass-produced all-electric vehicle by the end of this year.

Bernards, a commercial builder located in San Fernando, California, will be the contractor for its factory in Hanford, said FF in a statement yesterday. The company has obtained the on-site construction permit from the local Hanfold authority.

"We are honored to be chosen as the general contractor for Faraday Future's Hanford factory in the valley," said Falco DiGiallonardo, vice president of Bernards. "EV is the future of mobility and we look forward to working with Farady Future to have the factory set for production later this year."

Faraday Future initially planned to build its own factory in Nevada, the US, but due to funding problems, it got a former Pirelli tire plant in Hanford to speed up mass production of the FF91 supercar.

"2018 is going to be an exceptional year for FF to deliver its first FF91 to the market, and I will lead my team to make sure we are ready for this goal and beyond," said Michael Agosta, the company's new vice-president of finance in North America and a former Ford Motor executive, following his appointment last month.

The selection of the contractor for the Hanford factory located between Los Angeles and the Silicon Valley, the two largest NEV markets in the US, marks an important step forward for the company to deliver its first mass-produced FF91 by the end of this year, it said.

Faraday Future is also working with local agencies in Hanford for recruitment for the factory and has started several training programs, posting a number of vacancies based in the city.

The Hanford factory will employ up to 1,300 workers and operate three shifts for uninterrupted production, the statement added.
