(Yicai Global) June 13 -- Deluges have affected 22 provinces in China since the start of the flood season, causing about CNY10 billion (USD1.5 billion) of direct economic losses, according to official data.

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the provinces of Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong, all in the southern part of the country, have suffered the most. Floodwaters have ravaged 623,000 hectares of crops and displaced 6.75 million people.

The water level in the Nanchang section of Jiangxi's largest river, the Gan, rose due to heavy rains, submerging trees under silted water.

Floodwaters surround an academy and middle school on Bailuzhou island in the river Gan at Ji'an city, Jiangxi.

Rescue workers help residents in Zaizhong town, Yongxin county in Jiangxi. The floods have affected 2.01 million people in nine districts and cities of the province. Some 1,357 houses collapsed and 1,063 were badly damaged.

Houses are submerged in Baqiu town, Xiajiang county in Ji'an city.

Residents cross the river in Shangping town, Lianping county of Heyuan city in Guangdong. Heavy rainfall hit 63 counties and towns in Heyuan to varying degrees, killing seven people and impacting 114,550 more, according to provincial data.
