(Yicai Global) Aug. 1 -- China National Nuclear Power Co.'s [SHA:601985] has completed building the fourth unit of its Fuqing nuclear power plant in southeast China and connected it to the power grid.

The firm's subsidiary Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Co. successfully connected the unit to the grid on July 29, the parent company said yesterday.

Now connected, the unit will undergo a load test run and other transient testing before starting commercial operations, which the company expects to do this year.

The power plant is based in Fujian province and will feature six 1,000-megawatt CPR-1000 pressurized water reactors with a total investment of nearly CNY100 billion (USD14.9 billion). The fourth unit's installed capacity is 1089 megawatts.
