(Yicai Global) April 18 -- Great Wall Motor inked contracts yesterday with 30 dealers from Russia, Australia, South Africa among other countries at the Shanghai Auto Show, part of efforts by China's largest sport utility vehicle maker to promote its business overseas.
Great Wall signed deals with companies including Reginas Group of Russia, Andrew Simms of New Zealand and CHM Group of South Africa, the Baoding-based firm said in a statement without providing specific details.
Chinese carmaker started exporting its vehicles in the 1990s and has sent over 600,000 vehicles overseas to date. It works with more than 400 dealers worldwide as of the end of 2018 and expanded its dealer network by one-third annually last year.
It operates in Russia, South Africa, Australia, the Middle East, South America and Asia Pacific.
Great Wall previously invested USD500 million in Russia to build a factory capable of making 150,000 Haval F7 Series SUVs per year. Production will kick off this year and the firm has also built five knock-down facilities in Malaysia, Ecuador, Iran, Tunisia and Bulgaria.
