(Yicai Global) Aug. 6 -- China’s Guangzhou Baiyun Airport started a face recognition ‘One ID’ service yesterday that allows domestic travelers to use their own faces as a pass to move around the airport and board flights, CCTV reported today.
Baiyun is the first major airport in China to adopt such technology.
South China’s largest aviation hub, Baiyun has built up a database storing passengers’ individual faces. Though using visages as ID is technically feasible at present, passengers are still required to show identity documents to pass through airport security.
