(Yicai Global) Oct. 25 -- Smart shared-fitness provider Shanghai ParkBox Technology Co. has released a new version of its mobile app and three new sizes of its fitness pod, the company said in a press briefing yesterday.

The update brings a social network feature to the app, making it easier for users to find work-out partners at its fitness pods.

ParkBox Technology aims to better integrate offline and online services through the update, and will use social networking to increase the number of users making appointments with professional trainers on the platform, online media outlet Jiemian News reported yesterday.

The firm has also introduced three new sizes of its fitness boxes which are installed in local communities. The new two-, four- and five-person boxes cover eight, 18 and 28 square meters, respectively.

The company will install the fitness cabins in accordance with the number of households and population characteristics of different communities, and set up training pods with treadmills, dumbbells and a smart instructor equipment core in all communities.

ParkBox's pods are fitted with Internet of Things (IoT) equipment, mobile self-help appointment services, QR-code locks and a smart instructor system employing artificial intelligence.

The enterprise has signed strategic agreements with several large property management and real estate companies over recent months, which will result in its products covering nearly 2,000 communities.
