(Yicai Global) Feb. 28 -- Etisalat, the largest telecom operator in the United Arab Emirates, will join hands with Chinese telecom equipment giant Huawei Technologies to bring fifth-generation mobile network into the Arab Gulf State.

Etisalat is expected to provide 5G for all fixed and mobile network equipment that are released in the first half of this year, state-backed CCTV reported on its website yesterday, citing the Abu Dhabi-based firm. The plan involves building 600 5G base stations across the country.

Etisalat hopes to offer its clients great broadband services relying on its 5G technologies and cooperation with Chinese firms, the company said.

Huawei has signed cooperation agreements with more than 50 partners and penned over 30 contracts worldwide, the Shenzhen-based firm unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, Spain earlier this month. So far it has delivered over 40,000 5G base stations.

Huawei's 5G technology will be used in 110 countries by 2025, the firm's rotating chairman Hu Houkun said in January at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2019, adding the firm has forayed into more than 10 countries with its 5G network and plans to enter another 20 in one year.
