(Yicai Global) May 20 -- Huawei Technologies, the world's second-biggest smartphone maker, said it will continue to build a safe and sustainable software ecosystem even after Google blocked the firm's access to some updates of the Android operating system.
Huawei has made substantial contributions to the development and growth of Google's Android around the world, the Shenzhen-based company said in a statement today. As one of Android's key global partners, Huawei has worked closely with the open-source platform to develop an ecosystem that has benefitted users and the industry, Huawei said, adding that it will continue to provide the best experience for all users globally.
Alphabet's Google unit suspended business with the Chinese company after US President Donald Trump's administration on May 16 added Huawei to a list of firms that will have a harder time purchasing products from US companies.
Huawei said it will continue to provide security updates and after-sales services to all existing Huawei and Honor smartphones and tablets, covering those that have been sold and that are still in stock around the world.
