Huawei’s Smart Driving Unit Partners With CATL on Battery Swapping(Yicai) Oct. 20 -- Yinwang Intelligent Technology, the smart driving subsidiary of China’s Huawei Technologies, has teamed up with Contemporary Amperex Technologies on battery swapping.
Yinwang, CATL, and Contemporary Amperex Energy Service Technology will jointly build an intelligent battery-swapping ecosystem, creating a new contactless energy replenishment experience for the autonomous driving era, the three parties announced yesterday, citing an agreement inked on the same day.
The partners will integrate Yinwang’s Qiankun Automated Driving Solution and CATL’s Choco-Swap network to connect data and services across vehicles, stations, and the cloud.
This will allow vehicles to complete the entire battery-swapping process on their own, from identifying their energy needs to finding a station, entering the bay, aligning themselves, completing a fully automated swap in 99 seconds, and driving off.
The vehicle models co-developed by Huawei and its carmaking partners, equipped with Quankun ADS, will gradually be integrated into the Choco-Swap network, multiple sources told Yicai.
Yijing, the car brand developed by Huawei and Dongfeng Motor Group, has already added battery swap-enabled versions to the development plans of its new models, according to people familiar with the matter.
The partnership will also expand Yinwang’s 10-Minute Qiankun ADS Life Circle and provide Qiankun ADS users with richer and more convenient intelligent swapping solutions.
Launched at the end of last year, the 10-Minute Qiankun ADS Life Circle has covered two million charging stations, and its payment service has reached more than 300,000 parking lots.
