Lenovo to Roll Out Personal 'Super-Intelligent' Agent as AI Revenue Climbs Lenovo to Roll Out Personal 'Super-Intelligent' Agent as AI Revenue Climbs

(Yicai) Nov. 20 -- Lenovo will launch a personal "super-intelligent" agent globally in January, Chairman Yang Yuanqing said today as the Chinese laptop maker posted record-high quarterly revenue.

Yang made the comment while speaking to the media, including Yicai, after Lenovo released its fiscal 2025–26 second-quarter financial report for the period ended Sept. 30, which showed continued momentum in its artificial intelligence-related businesses.

The upcoming intelligent agent will integrate various wearable devices and environmental sensing terminals, dispatch portable devices such as smartphones and personal computing hubs, and understand users’ real-time scenarios and intentions so coordinated devices can operate intelligently to complete assigned tasks efficiently, Yang said.

Lenovo’s revenue rose 15 percent to CNY146.4 billion (USD20.6 billion), a record quarterly high, while adjusted net profit increased 25 percent to CNY3.7 billion (USD514.9 million). AI-related revenue accounted for 30 percent of the total, up 13 percentage points from a year earlier, driven by growth across AI equipment, servers, services, and solutions.

Lenovo is confident it can maintain stable gross and net profit margins, and revenue from its PC and server businesses is likely to achieve double-digit growth over the next two quarters, Yang added.

Looking ahead, Yang said the shift of AI computing from public cloud training to local data centers and edge-side inference is accelerating, contributing to high double-digit growth in Lenovo’s AI server revenue in the latest quarter, though the Beijing-headquartered company did not disclose a specific figure.

He added that while early phases of major innovation cycles inevitably bring heavy investment, fierce competition, and localized bubbles, the overall direction of AI development is not a bubble. Large-scale infrastructure spending will spur more terminal devices and applications, similar to how the expansion of internet infrastructure once drove growth in computer hardware and online services.

Yang warned that booming AI investment is fueling a surge in demand for storage components such as memory, flash memory, and solid-state drives, pushing prices higher. He expects supply shortages and price increases to persist throughout next year.

Lenovo has signed optimal contracts with core component suppliers to secure sufficient supply, he said, noting the company’s long-standing partnerships with key suppliers enable it to better manage raw material shortages and cost pressures.

Shares of Lenovo [HK: 00992] rose more than 3 percent in morning trading before paring gains. The stock closed 0.9 percent up at HKD9.72 (USD1.30), while the Hang Seng Index ended slightly higher.
