Mercedes, BMW Reveal Second Big Car Recalls This Month Mercedes, BMW Reveal Second Big Car Recalls This Month

(Yicai Global) Feb. 27 -- Mercedes-Benz will rescind nearly 9,800 vehicles in China and BMW will do the same to more than 4,800 units, resulting in both of the German firms' second large product recalls in the country announced this month.

The total reaches nearly 14,600 vehicles, the State Administration of Market Regulation said in a statement today.

Stuttgart-headquartered Mercedes-Benz said earlier this month that it will take back nearly 12,700 vehicles due to weak shock absorbers. Meanwhile, Munich-based BMW would rescind almost 7,200 units because of brake calipers that are likely to get rusty.

Starting from March 26, Mercedes-Benz will revoke some imported and domestically made cars across different series as these vehicles have positioning issues in their emergency-call systems.

On May 1, BMW will begin taking back some domestic and imported BMW 3 Series units with faulty Takata airbags that could injure front-seat passengers. The airbags of these vehicles were replaced amid problems in 2013 and 2014 but risks have reappeared.
