Overseas Buyers at Canton Fair Exceed 100,000(Yicai) Oct. 20 -- This year’s second round of the bi-annual Canton Fair has attracted more than 100,000 international buyers. Not only have their ranks swelled compared with the first round in spring, but overseas buyers are also more willing to place orders, Yicai found.
“The main feeling is that the number of visiting customers has increased several times,” Huang Junli, general manager of Zhejiang Shuangyang Group's international business unit, told Yicai. "In spring, we only had about 20 or 30 merchants, but this time hundreds have come to talk almost every day.
“Many come with inquiries and the intention to order, and their inquiries are also more in-depth and detailed, not limited to the products displayed,” Huang pointed out. At the trade fair, Shuangyang is mainly promoting charging guns and cables for car batteries.
The first phase of the current Canton Fair, which showcased the five major product sectors of electronic home appliances, industrial manufacturing, vehicles and two-wheelers, lighting and electrical, and hardware tools, ended yesterday. The next phase will be held from Oct. 23 to 27 and focus on homeware, gifts, and decorations as well as building materials and furniture.
Compared with the spring fair, the number of international buyers this time has surged, and many of them are from emerging markets such as Türkiye and Russia, said Yang Yicheng, overseas sales director of Zhuhai Kelitong Electronic.
The coffee grinders made by Kelitong Electronic have been popular in Türkiye in recent years, Yang added, noting that the firm received more than 20 Turkish buyers on the first day of the event.
In front of the booth of Guangzhou Transworld International, a buyer from Southeast Asia told Yicai that he was intrigued by the company's new virtual reality product, the Spin 360 -- a two-seater, 360-degree rotating flight simulator.
The potential sales growth of the firm’s VR balance bikes in Russia, India, and Southeast Asia has far exceeded its expectations, Project Manager Liang Funan told Yicai. “Last year, export orders from Southeast Asia surged 200 percent to 300 percent from a year earlier,” he noted.
A Turkish home appliances exhibitor told Yicai that he is willing to come to the Canton Fair every year, even if he does not make any deals, because he can see the products and prices displayed by Chinese competitors and also the latest industry trends. His company will definitely improve its products based on the information gleaned at the fair, he added.
