(Yicai Global) July 23 -- German high-performance auto manufacturer Porsche has recalled 5,967 Taycan electric sports cars in China due to a problem with the electronic control software that could cause the vehicle to suddenly lose power, the State Administration for Market Regulation said today.

Authorized dealers will update the power electronics and Digital Motronic Electronics software of the recalled vehicles free of charge, it added.

It is part of a worldwide recall of roughly 43,000 autos. The Taycan is Porsche’s first battery-powered sports series and it can sprint from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.8 seconds. The cars cost around CNY888,000 (USD137,107) in China.

The Stuttgart-based carmaker also said today that it will recall 94 imported Cayenne series vehicles made between 2018 and 2021 due to problems with the steering that if not assembled correctly could cause the auto to lose control.
