(Yicai Global) Aug. 2 -- DiDi Chuxing, China's number one ride-hailing service, has embarked on a new partnership with a cab-hailing service provider in East Europe and Africa, only several months after a USD2 billion joint investment with Japan's SoftBank Group in Southeast Asia's on-demand ride-hailing and mobile payment platform Grab.

DiDi has entered into a strategic agreement with mobile travel company Taxify, it said in a statement yesterday. The Beijing-based ride-hailing service provider will assist Taxify with market diversification and technology innovation operations through investment and smart travel technology development. However, the company did not disclose the financial value of the deal.

Taxify offers taxi and car-hailing services for 2.5 million people in 18 countries, including Hungary in East Romania, Poland, and the three Baltic countries -- Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, in Eastern Europe and South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya in Africa, public information shows.
