(Yicai Global) Feb. 26 -- The Shanghai Health Commission confirmed a new case of the novel coronavirus Covid-19 yesterday, the city's first after two days without new patients and taking the local tally to 336.

The new patient, a local resident in Qingpu district, travelled to Henan province on Jan. 20 and returned to Shanghai on Feb. 9, the commission said. He developed a fever on Feb. 22 and went to hospital the following day.

Among all Shanghai patients so far, three have died, 12 are in critical condition, 268 are fully recovered and have been discharged from hospital, and 53 are in stable condition.

The patients range from 7 months to 88 years of age and include 174 men and 162 women, according to the commission. 

Some 144 have lived in or visited Hubei province, the epicenter of the disease's outbreak, and 158 have had close contact with other patients, while 34 have lived in or visited other provinces or regions.

Shanghai had cleared 2,249 suspected cases as of yesterday and another 78 are undergoing further tests.
