Tech Shares Fail to Prop Up China Stocks as Chary Investors Wait Out Holiday

(Yicai Global) Sept. 23 -- Although Technology shares rose, Chinese stock markets nevertheless closed lower as investors sat out the market in a wait-and-see lull before the National Day holiday that starts next week.

The Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.98 percent to 2,977.08. The Shenzhen Component Index fell by 1.01 percent to 9,781.14. The ChiNext Price Index closed at 1684.32, down 1.22.

Markets will shutter from Oct. 1 to Oct. 8 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic.
