(Yicai Global) Jan. 31 -- China's internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd. reached an agreement with Shaanxi Cultural Heritage Bureau to provide technical renovation services for local cultural relics exhibition halls in museums to enhance visitor experience.

Tencent will provide facial recognition technology for the exhibition hall of Shaanxi History Museum in the northern province to pave the way for cashless entry. The internet titan will also help with identification and restoration of local cultural relics, cultural relics intellectual property creation and dissemination.

Last year, Tencent and the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum, which hosts the Terracotta Army, in Xi'an, capital of the northern Shaanxi province, reached an agreement to launch an interactive experience game called "Hello, Terracotta Warriors." Through face-recognition and image-processing technologies, the game can simulate unique terracotta images of tourists based on their actual appearances.

Shaanxi is home to some of the most abundant cultural relics in China. Four of the nine united dynasties in Chinese history located their capitals in Xi'an, leaving 79 imperial tombs. Among the many cultural relics, the Terracotta Army is also reputed as the eighth wonder of the world.
