(Yicai) July 4 -- Tesla's Model Y has been included in a Chinese provincial government's new energy vehicle procurement list, marking the US auto giant’s first entry into such a list in the country.

The Aito M7, the Avatr 11, and Volvo Cars' XC40 were also included in the list, valid until the end of next April, according to the Jiangsu government's procurement website.

The Model Y is Tesla's most popular sport utility vehicle. It has a starting price of CNY249,900 (USD34,375) in the Chinese market.

China will offer similar treatment to foreign and domestic companies that take part in the country's large-scale equipment renewal, government procurement, investment, and other areas, according to a statement released after an executive meeting of the State Council, or cabinet, on June 26.

The country will also deepen the opening-up of key sectors, lift all market access restrictions on overseas investment in the manufacturing sector, and roll out a new round of pilot initiatives to further open up its services sector.

Tesla entered the Chinese market in 2014, with the launch of its Model S. Its first Gigafactory outside of the United States was built in Shanghai, which neighbors Jiangsu.

Tesla’s production fell 14 percent year on year to 410,000 autos in the three months ended June 30, the company said on July 2. It delivered 444,000 cars, a 5 percent drop from a year ago but a 14 percent gain on the first quarter to beat market expectations. The firm shipped 422,400 units of the Model 3 and Model Y.
