Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory Ends Over Week-Long Break to Stop Delays Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory Ends Over Week-Long Break to Stop Delays

(Yicai Global) Feb. 10 -- Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory is scheduled to restart churning out Model 3s today after halting production for more than a week due to the new coronavirus epidemic.

Shanghai's Information Office spokesperson Xu Wei said in a statement on Feb. 8 that Tesla's plant in Lin-gang Free Trade Zone will resume work as scheduled on Feb. 10.

In late January, China prolonged the Spring Festival holiday because of the virus outbreak that has so far infected over 40,200 people and killed 909 in the country. Many stores and factories still remain closed.

The shutdown may "slightly" affect Tesla's quarter-one profitability, the California-headquartered firm said in a statement on Jan. 30. Model 3 deliveries scheduled for early February are likely to be postponed, Tesla's Global Vice President Tao Lin said a statement on Weibo on Feb. 4.
