(Yicai Global) Dec. 7 -- Booking website operator Qunar.com Inc. said that it will appoint Chen Gang as its chief executive, replacing Chen Zhenyu, who will become the company's chairman, Tencent Technology reported. The reshuffle is a sign that the firm's integration with China's largest online travel agency is advancing.
Chen Gang is the senior vice president and head of ground transportation at Ctrip.com International Ltd. [NASDAQ:CTRP], which acquired Qunar in 2015.
Less than two months after the deal, Qunar said it would reorganize its management, with founder Zhuang Chenchao and Zhao Yilu stepping down from their respective positions of CEO and chief financial officer. The company named a new CEO -- Chen Zhenyu, who had been serving as Qunar's executive vice president and wireless business leader.
Following that shakeup, some founding members of Qunar left their posts, and their successors assumed responsibility for merging with Ctrip.
Ctrip aims to develop Qunar's business by setting it up as a platform focused on segmented target groups.
