(Yicai Global) Jan. 22 -- The value of Guangdong province's game industry output climbed 24 percent annually to CNY167 billion (USD26 billion) last year, China News reported, citing data announced at the Guangdong Game Industry Annual Conference.

The province's output accounted for 76 percent of the nationwide total. Its mobile and PC game revenues were CNY86.7 billion and CNY55.3 billion, up 51 percent and 17 percent, respectively.

Guangdong is a leader in China's game market and aims to expand its presence overseas. It registered CNY21.8 billion in-game export revenue last year, marking a 24 percent increase. Mobile games accounted for more than half of such exports.

China was the largest contributor to game revenue worldwide for the third year in a row in 2017. Its game revenue rose 20 percent to USD32.5 billion. The global game revenue for the year was USD116 billion.

Guangdong is home to several major game makers including Tencent Holdings Ltd. and NetEase Inc.
