ZXMOTO's Delivery Time for Tourney-Winning Motorbike Orders Exceeds Six Months, Report Says(Yicai) April 14 -- ZXMOTO has seen orders for the 820RR, the motorcycle model that helped it become the first Chinese team to win a title at the World Superbike Championship, fill its backlog until at least October, according to a new report.
"Orders are rapidly increasing, with the head office trying to boost production capacity to deliver the motorcycles as soon as possible," The Paper reported yesterday, citing a ZXMOTO staffer as saying at the ongoing China International Consumer Products Expo in Haikou, Hainan province. "The first buyers have received their bikes, but if you order the 820RR now, you probably won't get it until October or November."
The 820RR has taken central stage during ZXMOTO's first participation at the expo after France's Valentin Debise, riding a 820RR-RS, secured a double victory for the firm in the World Supersport category at the WorldSBK's Portuguese round at the end of last month, breaking decades-long dominance by giants Ducati Motor Holding, Yamaha, and Kawasaki Motors.
"After winning the championship, many motorcycle enthusiasts came to visit, including foreigners," another worker at ZXMOTO's booth noted.
ZXMOTO has three models: the 500RR priced at CNY29,980 (USD4,395), the 500F priced at CNY29,980, and the 820RR priced at CNY43,800. Its new 820RR-R will likely hit the market at CNY61,980 in June. Buyers can only order the motorcycles on the company's online mini-program.
The WorldSBK has 12 rounds during this year's season, with the one in Portugal being the second. According to some analysts, the WSBK rules dictate that the Balance of Performance is evaluated and adjusted every three rounds, so the upcoming third round in the Netherlands will be a crucial test for ZXMOTO's technical power.
Established in April 2024, ZXMOTo sold 25,000 units last year, according to data from Chongqing Daily. However, its pre-sales have skyrocketed this year, reaching almost 60,000 units so far, while its operating revenue has topped around CNY1.8 billion (USD264 million), CCTV News reported.
